Like any investment, on the Lendy platform, we would encourage you to diversify your property investments with a mix of different types of property and loan durations etc. By maintaining a balanced portfolio if there is an issue with one property you’ll be able of offset with the others.
- Your investment is in a secured loan
When we fund a loan, we take security over the borrower’s property. Depending on the creditworthiness of the borrower, we also take security over the borrower’s other assets.
This means that if a borrower fails to keep up with their repayments, Lendy has the right to take possession of the property, then sell or auction it to recover investors’ capital.
As part of our credit assessment, and in addition to the security we take over the property, we also consider taking security over additional borrower assets (or from guarantors), which provides a wider range of borrower assets in relation to which we can seek recovery.
If our experienced team of lending professionals is not comfortable with the creditworthiness of the borrower, we will not lend to that borrower. There are no loans available on the platform to you as an investor, that we were not comfortable offering for investment.
- Issues free
As you are not investing directly in property you don’t have all the issues associated with dealing directly with tenants, i.e. chasing rent and organizing repairs.
